Early Career Researchers (ECR) Workshop at Utrecht University (04 December 2025)

To close the year, all four PhD candidates took part in an interdisciplinary workshop on platform work and the gig economy at Utrecht University. The event brought together PhD candidates and early-career researchers from the humanities, law, and social sciences, building on an informal research network of scholars working on digital labour in and from the Netherlands.

During the workshop, we presented our second and third PhD papers. We are particularly grateful to Koen Frenken and Jeroen Meijrink for discussing our work. We also very much enjoyed Jeroen’s opening keynote, which provided an overarching view of current research on the gig economy and offered thoughtful suggestions for future directions.

The workshop was therefore a fitting way to close the year, leaving us with new ideas as we look ahead to the next phase of our research in 2026.
